I AM

Who can tell me the name of this hawk? It was in a tree in front of my son’s house.   Hello there! Hope all is well with you. We have had Winter visit us since I last posted. Lots of fluffy snow. After the first snow of the season we received about 10 inches more white fluffy snow and lost power for about 6 hours. Believe me when I say we were so happy we had our whole house generator instead of the ancient noisy smelly gas generator on the kitchen patio.  Poor Roger was left on his own plowing, shoveling for the dogs, and to the bird feeders. I stayed inside and  felt guilty until I heard voices and laughing and the neighbors kids were shoveling like crazy, 4 teen boys. Roger was visiting with their dads. ☃️ Truth be told I was very happy that they stopped by to see if he needed help. Roger has an Army injury to his back and has had cancer twice. He is also 75 years old so has earned his stripes. Today is Sunday. A beautiful sunny morning here BUT the temperature is 28 degrees. I am n

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

Hello there wherever you are! A little update from the person who has a very boring existence these days. Well, I guess I left off with the sale of my parents house and the divviing up of the proceeds to various family members. That open a whole lot of friction with lawyers involved. That took time and the buyers had construction workers due to start work on the house. They extended the closing date by 10 days and I was sweating bullets on the last day but it happened and is behind me now.   Once that was over with we scheduled to have a whole house generator. Electricians, and excavators were scheduled but because of backlogs we didn’t see anyone until after Christmas. We are in a valley and we have to drive up to our road. A ditch had to be dug from our house to the road. The power company had to replace a pole and run new lines up at the road. Trees had to be cut down and huge boulders taken out of the ditch. What a mess! It rained just about every day when the were doing all 30 foo

HAPPY AUTUMN!

Hello dear friends! For the past several days there’s been a change in temperature and I couldn’t be happier. The windows and doors are open and the air con is off. Yay I say! So, how have you all been? If you are a sun worshiper then you are probably not as happy about the change over from Summer to Autumn or Fall, however you might say it. Being a Mainiac (as in Maine) this time of year brings on a strong desire to visit the beach to surf watch. Especially when a hurricane is approaching. My oh my! I do wish I were in the York, Oqunquit, and Wells, Maine area!  The reality is that I am at home in land locked Pennsylvania. The mountains are about to come alive with beautiful colors. Foliage peeping runs a close second to surf watching.  * There’s a lot on our plate right now. Roger is still doing his part time summer job plus we have a project about to start of having a whole house generator installed. You might not think that is a big deal but it is for us. We don’t have a gas line t

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Well, hello there! It’s been a hot minute since I last wrote! It didn’t seem like I had much to talk about, not that that’s ever stopped me from going on about nothing before. I think I may have mentioned before that summer is my least favorite season. Our Summers are buggy and muggy. I do love the beauty that surrounds me but hate maintaining it. If I had my way I would live in a condo or something similar so that our weeding, mowing strimming and everything else needed would be taken care of by someone else. Most land owners in our development have gardeners but that has been outside our control due to living on pensions now. Roger just loves to putter outside but, for the life of me, I can never see the results of his puttering…what DOES he do out there for hours on end? The heat and humidity doesn’t really bother him. He still wears a tee shirt under his long sleeve shirt.  Me, I love the new central air system we had put in last summer…until a tornado tore through our sleepy neig

SUMMER IS BEAUTIFUL

Image
S ince I last wrote a lot has been happening on my patch. More color, warmer temperatures, house news, and a grandson graduating from high school.  We haven’t seen summer high humidity yet and I am very thankful for that. I get very depressed when it’s beautiful outside but too awful to go out. Heart issues. I am thankful that we have actually had a lovely Spring and early summer.  The house news is that the house in Maine has been sold. In fact, it sold the same day it was listed! The house listing included 12 acres of land and an ocean view but the access we had to the shore was not allowed to be included. If my parents had sold it, it would have passed on to the new owners. I feel bad for the new owners because there’s a no trespassing sign put up by the owners of property that once belonged to my grandmother. A glitch in the acquisition laws. My parents had right of way as did I but when it left the family the right of way clause was withdrawn. So, I had to come down in price. De

WHAT’S OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOWS?

What a beautiful time of the year! Are you well and enjoying Spring? I have hope in my heart as I gaze out my windows. How can we not have enthusiasm when we look around us …how can we not have hope. (Of course, you could be enjoying Fall or Autumn, depending on where you live.) It seemed like our Winter was a long one despite me loving its coziness. It was not harsh here but other areas of our country were hit hard with disastrous weather conditions. And, the Evening News…so full of woes and bleakness. The unspeakable war in the Ukraine and our cost of living through the roof. Oil prices. Gas prices. Food prices. Interest rates. We  still have Trump to beat on and Biden has certainly not been an answer to prayer.  Roger, who is an avid obituary reader as we settle into bed for the night, loves to read them aloud. He grew up in the area so he can always find an acquaintance(s) that has passed on or passed over. Not to mention the demise of admired celebrities. And all those that have

HEALTH IS WEALTH

Hello dear bloggers. It’s me again. I hope you are well and enjoying at least something that can put a Spring in your step! Here in Eastern Pennsylvania we are blooming with colors. I took a few photos the other day to prove it. I have even dug myself out of the house to be out and about. Mostly appointments, my health is not the best, heart issues, but I’m far from being incapacitated and life goes on. We all have something to deal with, don’t we. I’m working on my weight issues because I will need knee surgery sooner rather than later. I had knee replacement on the other knee about 5 years ago. Anyway, that’s where I am at. Oh the beauty of Spring! I drove through our neighborhood the other day and the flowering trees, especially the Japanese Cherrys! Love, love, love.  Today we are getting together here at the house to acknowledge my oldest grandson’s 19th birthday!  What a privilege to have these grandchildren! This grandchild is super special because he was diagnosed on the autis
